Mid Season Awards

TTR - Mid Season

Best Draft Picks:

QB: Josh Allen, QB3, drafted Rd. 9 - Rich, we’ll see how this ends up, but for now it is tremendous value even with Allen coming back to the pack after a few recent duds.

RB: Ronald Jones, RB12, drafted Rd. 5 - Zak, I don’t think anyone expected this level of performance from RoJo. I thought this was a huge reach by Zak, but it has worked out so far.

WR: Robby Anderson, WR9, drafted Rd. 14 - Manny, this was an absolutely tremendous pick as Robby Anderson seems to embody everything good about the upstart Panthers.

Worst Draft Picks:

QB: Lamar Jackson, QB17, drafted Rd. 2 - Wesh, QB17 is not the value you are looking for when you reach to take a QB in the 2nd round.

RB, non-injury: Mark Ingram, RB46, drafted as RB1, Rd. 3 - Wesh, Ingram has only twice scored in double digits, and in three different weeks scored less than 3.01. Not the performance you need from your RB1.

WR, non- injury: JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR35, drafted as WR1, Rd. 3 - Travan, this is the 2nd year in a row JuJu has appeared in this category. Maybe it’s time to chalk him up as a wonderful kid that is a quality WR2, but that also needs a great supporting cast around him.

Best Waiver Moves:

QB: Joe Burrow, QB9, picked up in Week 2 - Jeff, there are 6 undrafted QBs in the top-20, Burrow is the highest of them all.

RB: James Robinson, RB3, picked up previous to Week 1 - Jason, getting elite RB numbers from a free agent is the kind of thing that could end up winning a league, let’s see if Jason can capitalize on his good fortune.

WR: Justin Jefferson, WR14, picked up previous to Week 1 and again Week 4 - Jeff, I really liked Jefferson coming out of the draft, it took a few weeks to get going, but it looks like he is the real deal.

Worst Waiver Moves

QB: Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB16, dropped previous to Week 1 - Jeff, not an egregious move, but Fitzmagic did roll 4 straight games with 24+ and contributed mightily to my Week 5 loss to Blas.

RB: Mike Davis, RB11, forgot to submit waiver - Jeff, this was really inexcusable, but in the midst of some crazy times at work, I quickly scanned through my waiver options for Week 3, but forgot to actually submit them, thus missing out on Mike Davis.

WR: Brandon Cooks, WR27 but 52.8 in the last 3 weeks, dropped by Josh after Week 4, again not totally unforgivable as Cooks was really bad over the first month of 2020, but I bet Josh would really like to have him back now.

Best Trade: Matt trades Kareem Hunt and Emmanuel Sanders to Manny for Mike Evans. This was a great trade as Matt capitalized on surplus talent and met a real need on Manny’s squad after Saquon’s injury. Hunt has been the backbone for Manny since Week 2 and Matt has continued to use his roster excess to try to improve, although temporarily Ekeler hasn’t contributed.

Worst Trade: So far there haven’t been any bad trades. I would say this, though, I know for a fact some of you have been lackluster on the trade front, either being too stingy or too complacent. Sometimes the right move isn’t to trade, but sometimes the right move is to take a risk. I suspect that there have been some great trades left on the table because you’re overly confident about your squad or too chickenshit to take on the appropriate risk. Either way embrace your inner degenerate.

Mid-Season FF MVP: Russell Wilson, overall #1, not only is he a beast, he is fueling the monster seasons for Carson, Lockett, and Metcalf. He’s the front-runner for NFL MVP and the clear cut mid-season, fantasy MVP. LET RUSS COOK!

Mid-Season FF Disappointment: CMC, Saquon, Thomas, even Adams (2 monster games sandwiching 5 useless games) aside, this award belongs solely to Lamar Jackson. On a per game basis he is averaging 21.6 ppg, which is nice, but it is still only the 13th best per game rate for a QB. You have to go another 7 spots down before you are more than 2 ppg less. That means that there are 19 other QBs (6 that were undrafted) that are either better than Lamar or within 2 points of him on a per game basis. For a player taken 18th overall in the 2nd Round, that ain’t even close to good enough.

Well fellas, we’re just over half way to the playoffs, and as Old Blue Eyes used to say, “Still it's a real good bet, the best is yet to come.”

PS: Dear Rudy, I still can’t bring myself to take your shit seriously.
